Used by every UK police force

Don't lose your bike
to theft — and never get it back

300,000 bikes are stolen in the UK every year. Without registration, fewer than five in 100 are ever recovered. The BikeRegister security kit changes that — for less than the cost of a bike lock.

Unregistered bikes are rarely returned. When police recover a bike with no registration, they have no way to find the owner. It sits in a storage facility — then gets auctioned off. Your bike. Someone else's windfall.

Every layer of protection explained

The kit works because it attacks the stolen bike market from four directions simultaneously — making your bike harder to steal, impossible to disguise, easy to identify, and simple for police to return.

UV marking fluid

Applied to the frame, invisible to the naked eye, readable under UV light. Tamper-resistant. Links directly to your registration record in the police database.

Security warning sticker

The visible deterrent. A BikeRegister sticker tells every thief the bike is marked, registered, and searchable. A riskier target than the unmarked bike next to it.

Police database registration

Your bike added to BikeRegister — used by every UK police force. When an officer recovers a bike, this is the first database they check. Without it, they can't return it to you.

Digital recovery certificate

Proof of ownership saved to your phone. The document that settles disputes with insurers, sellers, and police. Print it, save it, share it — it's yours permanently.

Set up in under five minutes

You don't need to be technical. You don't need any tools. The kit is designed to be applied and registered before your next ride.

  1. Order your kit

Choose Standard, Premium, or Family above. We ship within two to three working days. Your registration code is also emailed instantly so you can set up the digital record before the physical kit arrives.

  2. Mark your frame

Apply the UV marking fluid to the underside of the bottom bracket and at least two other hidden points on the frame. Takes about two minutes. The fluid dries clear and is readable under any UV light — including the ones carried by police officers.

  3. Register online

Use the code in your kit to add your bike to the BikeRegister database. Enter the make, model, colour, serial number, and photos. The whole process takes under three minutes. You receive a digital certificate immediately.

  4. Attach the warning sticker

Stick the BikeRegister security warning to the frame — somewhere visible. This is the deterrent that stops the theft before it starts. A marked bike is a harder sell. A harder sell is a less attractive target.

Why marking a bike deters theft

Bike theft is largely driven by the resale market. A thief steals a bike because they can sell it. Every buyer of a secondhand bike can check BikeRegister for free. A marked, registered bike is a bike that cannot be sold without risk. The warning sticker communicates that risk before the thief even picks up the lock cutter. We can't guarantee your bike will never be targeted — but we can make it a much less attractive proposition than the unmarked bike next to it.

Which kit is right for you?

All three kits include police-linked registration and a recovery certificate. The difference is in how many layers of protection you add — and how many bikes you cover.

Cyclists who got their bikes back

★★★★★

"My Specialized was stolen from outside the office. Because it was registered, the police matched it when they recovered a haul three weeks later. I genuinely never expected to see it again. The kit cost me £17.99. The bike cost £1,200."

"Bought the family kit. Five bikes, three kids. The youngest had hers stolen from school within a month of getting it. The QR sticker meant a teacher who spotted it on Gumtree could report it directly. Police recovered it the same day."

"Honestly bought it because my insurance required it. But when my partner's bike was stolen and recovered six weeks later at a car boot sale, I became a genuine believer. The sticker alone probably stops more thefts than we realise."

Questions about the kit

The standard kit includes tamper-evident UV marking fluid, a security warning sticker, a registration code to add your bike to the BikeRegister police database, and a digital recovery certificate. The premium kit adds a tamper-evident frame tag, a QR code sticker, a priority stolen alert to trade dealers, and extends your registration to three years.
A marked bike is significantly harder to sell. Every buyer of a secondhand bike can check BikeRegister for free — so a marked, registered bike is a much riskier proposition for a thief to steal and resell. The visible warning sticker is itself a deterrent. We can't promise your bike will never be targeted, but we can make it a far less attractive option than an unmarked bike.
Log in to your BikeRegister account and mark your bike as stolen. It is immediately flagged across the BikeRegister database and all connected UK police systems. Every buyer who subsequently checks the serial number will see a stolen result. Premium kit owners also trigger an alert to cycle trade dealers within the hour.
Yes. BikeRegister is used by every UK police force — all 45. When officers recover a bike, BikeRegister is the first database they check to identify the owner. Without a registration, they have no way to return it to you. It will sit in a property store and eventually be auctioned off.
The standard kit includes 12 months of registration. The premium and family kits include three years. You can renew at any time from your account. The UV marking on the frame is permanent — it does not expire with the registration period.

Your bike is worth protecting.
The kit costs less than a cable lock.

300,000 bikes stolen. Fewer than five in 100 recovered without registration. The kit that changes those odds starts at £9.99.
